PAYPOINT OUTLETS ARE REDEMPTION POINTS FOR DISCOUNTED NEWS INTERNATIONAL TITLE OFFERS
14 January 2008
News International via i-movo, the digital voucher specialist has teamed with PayPoint, the UK’s leading convenience retail bill payment network, to offer customers a 10p discount off The Sun and News of the World newspapers.
From 21st January 2008, customers will be invited to use their mobile money-off vouchers at PayPoint outlets across the UK. The promotion will run for a total of six weeks until 1st March 2008 and will provide each reader with a total discount of up to £3.60. Readers subscribing to the discount offer via The Sun website will receive a 7-digit code via Text and instructions to visit PayPoint outlets in order to purchase their discounted newspapers.
This promotion will enable PayPoint retailers to benefit from the mobile voucher scheme and associated sales, without the hassle of collecting paper vouchers and having to wait many weeks to re-coup their money. Electronic settlement of the vouchers will be via PayPoint’s existing financial relationships with its retailers and retailer’s accounts will be credited within approximately 6 days of a transaction taking place.
Simon Cobby, Head of Direct Marketing for News Group Newspapers publishers of The Sun and News of the World commented: “Newsgroup is committed to testing new technologies that seek to improve the efficiencies of delivering discounts to prospective readers. Paypoint offers one such technology that works in conjunction with an individual’s mobile phone that truly offers real potential to reduce our reliance on paper based vouchering over time.”
Mike Igoe, PayPoint’s Retail Director commented on the promotion launch: “We are delighted to be associated with two such well known household names from News International. This new mobile voucher scheme is another great sales opportunity for our agents. We will continue to work hard throughout 2008 to deliver further innovative traffic driving schemes for PayPoint retailers.”
